[ the scent of smoke is what draws kaeya out from where he's been perched on a seat in the lobby, just processing a few things, as one does. kim's telltale jacket is recognized immediately and kaeya makes his way over with polaris padding beside him as a large wolf. ]
Lieutenant Kitsuragi, [ he greets ] how are you faring after all of that?
[He waves the hand with a cigarette in greeting. There's a notebook open in front of him, but he doesn't seem so engrossed in it that he can't chat. His daemon, a skua, is perched on a fence nearby.]
A bit tired, but otherwise just fine. And you, Mr. Alberich?
Tired is the best word for it. Solving a crime in 9 hours is no small feat, even with as many minds going at it as we had.
[ if anything, having this many cooks in the kitchen has helped--terrible as that joke might sound. being able to send people off to investigate various areas while also analyzing evidence was ideal. ]
Lt. Kitsuragi-- [ a voice from over kim's shoulder as kaeya catches up with him. the markets are bustling so he does a little bit of weaving, but is able to slink up next to him, polaris going for a ride on his shoulders as a snowy white ermine. ] --Taking in the sights?
You could say that, yes. It almost feels strange to be in an actual living city again.
[Kim's without his jacket, for once! He's wearing a white T-shirt with a harness around his back for his gun holster. Cecile, as a great skua, circles just above them, and perches on a nearby stand.]
[ he murmurs, the bird briefly catching his attention. polaris seems to be taking in all the sights, dark eyes wide, similar as kaeya takes in the variety of details of this place. ]
I feel like the further along we go, the more populated it gets. Don't know if that's reassuring or threatening in some way.
[ hands behind his back now as he peers at one of the stalls--scarves and trinkets, a man hawking some books. ]
But I'm keen to enjoy at least one day here while scouting the place out, what do you say? Call it defiance.
[ the scent of smoke always lures kaeya, even if it's cigarettes, inherently drawn to flame, perhaps. polaris is picking through the snow as a wolf one moment then immediately kicking off to perch at the edge of one of the statues in the garden and let out a soft cry before settling and watching the pair. ]
It does... only escalation, it seems. [ he approaches and stands beside him, eye hard on the maze. ] It's vile...
[Said simply. Cecile, as a bandicoot, sits huddled on his shoulder with her snout poking out from beneath the collar of his jacket. He looks a bit like his soul's left his body, but he seems to be dragging himself back to the present.]
Yes, we still have some resources left over thanks to Yuri's information about the dead being able to help us in some way. It certainly came at the perfect time.
[ polaris lets out another soft call, it's a soft grieving sound. it's terrible and kaeya jerks his head at it. ]
The daemons mourn their own too. [ the sound stops. ] He calls out like that from time to time...
[Without thinking, Kim puts his free hand over the lump under his jacket, as if to give a little more warmth to the huddled daemon. The protruding snout twitches a little in response.]
May I copy those notes?
[With the understanding that any data there is probably gonna change, timey-wimey RP stuff, etc.
Also, Kaeya may notice a section of the ice garden has been roped off behind Kim.]
[Kim's just out in the streets, standing by a road and not-at-all-subtly admiring the cars as they go by. There's a look of almost childlike wonder in his eyes.]
What color, though? Still red? Or orange, like your jacket. Then we'd know it's yours...
[ he tilts his head. ]
What if you asked the Watchers for one of those licenses? Surely it'd help us, wouldn't it? I don't see why they'd be against it... I want to ride in one.
[ kaeya and polaris are here, padding towards the entry to the cave and slowly looking around. they have reason to investigate it deeper soon enough, to make sure there's nothing unsavory in there if they wish to make camp (much less explore further.) ]

Week 6, Monday
Wonder if we can get one of these for ourselves.
no subject
[ nyoom look at all these
chickenscars! kaeya is watching as well, an actual smile on his face as someone speeds by on a motorcycle.and then a truck!
and then a sleek red car that is definitely breaking the speed limit! ]
That one looks like fun, [ at the last one. ] If you get one, it should be one like that.

[A hint of genuine enthusiasm just crept into his voice.]
If it's anything like Revachol, you might need a license. Something to prove you know how to safely operate a vehicle.

I think I might give the Watchers a try, yes. It feels like it's been ages since I've had a chance to get behind the wheel.

Sure. What is it?

Would you be willing? I promise, it will not be anything... ah... depressing? Or scandalous?
[ he nods at the items by the entrance. ] I'll help you out afterwards, of course.

I'd be glad to lend an ear. In fact, this is perfect timing.
