[ polaris in peacock form walks ahead of kaeya as he finds van zieks wherever he might happen to be stationed in the hotel at this point in time, ideally in a place where they can be suitably unbothered. he'll grab and chair and turn it, sitting in it backwards and draping his arms over it. ]
[What is Kaeya, a teacher trying too hard to be cool? Adelheid is in harpy eagle form, perched on the back of the chair van Zieks is sitting in. Together they make a pretty ominous pair!!]
I see... Thank you for your hard work, nevertheless. It is troubling, but at this point in the day I can’t say I’m surprised. My ability for optimism has worn thin.
[ look sometimes you need to lounge in a backwards chair. he glances at adelheid and raises a brow. ]
We'd like optimism to serve us but it doesn't always do the trick. I wanted to ask your honest opinion. Do you think one of our number could be responsible for Marius' disappearance?
In a purely mathematical sense, there are more suspects among our number than can be considered on the whole.
However, it seems the spectres have the strongest motive to be the culprit, whatever they truly are. I do not fully trust the Watchers either. However... given what we know of the varied levels of morality among us, I certainly would not rule that possibility out.
[ oh hey zieks, it's kaeya and he's knockin on your door! he's dressed in the fashion of the city, a rather nice jacket and his shirt woefully unbuttoned down to the third button, trousers pulled up neatly though. he either looks like he put them on deliberately like that or he just doesn't know how to wear them. fuck around and find out. ]
well now I am not going to do it since you demanded.
[ it wasn't a joke how am i going to hide thrashing kaeya? in any case. while zieks is reaching out to redo the buttons, unbeknownst to one (1) ho, somewhere among this pile is a terrible little shard, inconsequential and not at the same time. as he lifts a hand up to undo van zieks' hard work--well. he brushes that shard in the pile.
there's certainly no big dramatic memory that happens, rather... it's a yakity-sax-but-make-it-otomatone montage of kaeya eating shit on a glider, getting kicked out angel's share by diluc late one night, and getting shield bashed by a huge mitachurl which sends him careening off a cliff.
[ kaeya is meandering in from the party and immediately beelines it for the lounge when he see van zieks there. he doesn't say anything at first, just slinks onto the other side of it to share while polaris drapes himself over a cushion, chin on his paws. ]
Because I want to know why you stormed off so quickly. Besides the terrible "I'm not a party person" answer.
[ waves it away! he won't accept that answer. polaris just gives a soft grumble from the floor in agreement. he glances over his shoulder at the still house door. ]
[ kaeya is making his way up to get a look at this view again and! there is zieks. his tail wiggles just a bit as he takes a place beside van zieks and looks outward at the sprawl of the sky before them. there's a moment where kaeya will hang onto the quiet for a bit, the wind whistling a little and the view breathtaking enough that he doesn't actually assault him with something stupid or silly. ]
Quite the view... I've never been so high up before.
w0, friday
No sign of our missing Marius' body anywhere yet.

clown
[ surprise! in his arms are... a pile of cravats! each one delicate, somewhat aged, but certainly more than serviceable. ]
oh my god you put both
Honestly he is just going. To reach out and do up the buttons.]
You are a grown man, I see no reason why a few buttons should be too much for you.
[WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MANY CRAVATS I THOUGHT THAT WAS A JOKE.]
yes

[ scoots just a little closer. ]
It's on your face.

I don't know why you'd ask me if you saw it yourself.

I knew it would shut Sholmes up and I decided to leave on a high note.
no subject
[ softer, he leans his cheek into his hand. ]
How long have you been waiting to do that?
no subject
It's not something I had planned. I had been told by those two to "loosen up."
