[ in a way, it's almost a little nostalgic to be back here. in a sort of... simultaneously horrible and good way. for all the bad at the end of the week -- three deaths, somewhat mitigated by the fact everyone was alive once again in spite of everything, and the execution that had followed were in a way balanced by the more positive things here.
not perfectly so, but... enough that yuri isn't mad to find himself back here. there are foods he remembers trying, the clothes and the experiences he had, the wandering the streets and just soaking in the atmosphere. it's... almost like a balancing act, when he thinks of the bad and the good.
this is probably meant to be a good thing -- this huge hotel with the grand entrance and the smartly dressed men and women checking people in and taking their bags to be wheeled up to what are likely to be just as opulent rooms. but yuri can only stare at it a little warily. ]
You're... sure this is where you want to stay? I thought people recommended the quieter, smaller places for that "realistic" experience of a place. This just seems like a rich man's bolt hole.
Perhaps, but there's perks to this sort of thing, you know? Perks that I think we deserve after all the hell we've been through.
[ said just as two key cards are placed in his hand from the concierge who probably pretends they didn't just hear that. returning to kings is not exactly something he expected at the time of their last visit, but things have changed. for one, murder isn't really on the forefront of his mind, or at least, he knows now that he won't be put to sleep on thursdays just to wake up to deaths on friday.

Like a fantastic view, and a hot tub in the actual room proper... besides, it's just for a few nights.

Not to mention the bed is enormous. And they allow animals.

And there's a pool on the roof. Right under the stars.
[ being back here is bittersweet, but at least this time it's calm and murder free. and he's with his two favorite people, plus the memories they made here (before everything went to shit) were ones he enjoyed. so this is fine. ]
I gave Kaeya the choice of where we would stay and this is what he chose.
[ of course kaeya chose the most extravagant place, he's not even surprised, and he has money now anyway, so please let him spoil both of them. ]
We can spend our time here doing whatever you both want, don't worry about the costs.
[ the moment they get to their room canopus is curling up right in the center of the giant bed, then calling pravda and polaris over to join her. ]
[ sometimes you're literally a government and nobility pest, yet here you are with a richass boyfriend. life works strangely. the keycards get a curious look because... well. he's used to keys being straight up keys. so this is new. ]
It was the hot tub in the room that won him, wasn't it?
[ he vaguely remembers one from nerak, even if he didn't use it himself. it had seemed pretty extravagent and very much the sort of thing kaeya would go in for, yeah. ]
... Like a swimming pool? [ on the roof of a building? ] It's not like I brought a swimsuit. Guess that's an excuse to go exploring parts of the city we missed last time then. [ on account of the looming threat of angels and murder. ]
Yes. There's a glass ceiling and everything, it's like you're swimming underneath the very stars themselves. I think we should do it at some point. We can get bathing suits, that's not hard, right?
[ as if kaeya doesn't just dunk himself head first in his clothes when he's working, but this is different. this is a vacation. he's going to hand yuri a card anyways so he can have a look at it while leading the way up to the room, polaris trotting behind happily, giving both yuri and diluc a soft nudge from each side, his tail wagging happily before he circles contentedly around canopus and pravda. ]
This time we're here for strict exploration and fun. Besides, you can't say a hot tub in our room doesn't sound fantastic. After a long walk in the city, why not have a warm soak, right?
[ the last time they came here they were on a timer with precious time available to them. now... well... there's less of a timer, less critical thinking, more fun, and kaeya thrives on it as he ponders the keycard a moment and slips it in, revealing a very lavish room in deep jewel tones, an enormous bed and moody lighting melting throughout every surface. he's not even wasting time, dropping his bag by the foot of the bed and laughing as he flops down on it immediately.

[ yuri just follows, honestly. eyes looking around the room and taking in all the sights and luxuries of this place. he's seen nice rooms before, the kind reserved for nobility and royalty -- but that was back home and this is somewhere else entirely. there's a whole bunch of little things that make no sense to him -- electronics, switches, fiddly little devices that must mean something to someone. but not him. ]
Hmm. [ ... ] There's certainly a lot of room. [ like.... more than one room? that isn't just sleeping area and a bathroom? damn. fancy. ]
And a lot of bed.
[ pravda is just hopping up to sprawl herself over part of the bed too and i keep forgetting they can talk now -- she says something soft and difficult to hear polaris and canopus, resting her muzzle on her paws sleepily. ]
