[ he is running faster now, canopus chasing after aura and as they climb the path he's looking everywhere. coming up the hill and there it is. there's the ruin guard and there's his daughter and boyfriend. fighting it. he's a mix of panic, happy to see them, and also sheer "HOW DID YOU EVEN GET IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE???" ]

[ diluc reaches behind him and pulls the claymore forward, focusing all his fire so it engulfs the blade. he stops and drops down, swinging back and when he swings forward a giant flaming eagle flies out and at the ruin guard. diluc follows it up by running and cutting at its legs, the machine dropping down. ]
I would love to know how you two ended up here of all places!?

[ what's that overhead? it's a bird? it's a plane? no! it's kaeya coming in on a white-winged glider and and collapsing it in an instant, bringing his sword down as diluc's fire heats the armor of the ruin guard. melt is already happening, steam rising off of the ruin guard's body as he lands in beside diluc and gives his sword a quick flip, his burst erupting with a sharp light and surrounding diluc's still flaming claymore in cryo. the ruin guard, already applied with? is that electro? starts to super conduct and he laughs as he looks over at sheba and yuri. ]
How nice of you to drop in! Not the best spot, mind you, but exciting none the less.
[ how did he get here so quickly, you may ask? well that's easy, because polaris is already darting in from the snow drifts, pincering their location and with a quick boop of his paws, starts up one of the heating mechanisms off to the side, releasing a blast of warmth so you guys don't freeze your asses off. he's the first one who booked it and kaeya simply said "BRB JEAN" and followed. ditches work for boyfriend and daughter. ]
[this thing is huge. sheba doesn't look too bothered by its approach, though - rather, once the shock of seeing it there fades, she just bends her knees slightly and adjusts her hold on her mace, ready as ever for a fight. come on, ruin guard. try her. she's ready.
a jupiter djinni that is not aura emerges from her chest in a whorl of glowing purple light, circles around her, and -
she vanishes, just as the ruin guard's fist slams down onto where she was.

it's probably fine. diluc and kaeya both appear on the scene at that exact moment anyway, engulfing the mechanical monster in flames and following it up with ice just seconds later. i like to imagine they're both like level 90 and just totally wrecking this ruin guard's shit. it staggers back, its metal plating charred and iced over, and sheba flickers back into existence in the exact same spot she was standing before, completely untouched.]

aura, meanwhile, flits about to nuzzle both canopus and polaris before going to hover near one of the heating mechanisms polaris has activated.

[ well. that was over before it even really started, wasn't it? as both diluc and kaeya seem to know what they're doing, yuri will keep himself to one side for the moment. as much as he'd love to dive in there and wreck that thing's shit, there's a lot of elements flying around and he's still pretty sure the best he'll manage is clanking his sword off the side of the ruin guard's armour anyway.

[ polaris moves to bump pravda warmly against her muzzle, licking fondly at her ears and giving aura a thorough nuzzling as well, his tail wagging happily. meanwhile, kaeya is picking up the goods left behind because why not, a few spare parts inside of the ruin guard's decimated robotic corpse to give over to the traveler or to some shop keeps. he also joins the rest of them by the warming mechanism, sheathing his sword and grinning at them both fondly. ]
Ruin Guards... they're awfully inconvenient, and they're everywhere here. Next time we'll make sure you're properly kitted up if for some reason we have to come back. Hopefully we won't.
